JWA Careers Hub raising student aspirations

4th July 2018

JWA has been working closely with project Flying HighER and the National Collaborative Outreach Programme, with the aim of raising the aspirations of all our students and supporting them on pathways into further and higher education. The recently refurbished careers hub, (now in N2, having moved from N11) has certainly raised the interest of many students and staff with its bright green décor and vibrant displays.

The Hub is currently used for all careers intervention, which students have been accessing on a 1-2-1 basis or in group meetings with other students. We have also been holding parental drop-in sessions which have proved very popular, providing parents and carers with careers information and resources and an insight into how they can support their son/daughter on their career pathways. In conjunction with the newly opened Hub, we have held 3 fairs targeting specific careers within North East Lincolnshire. And there are even bigger plans for the future!

From September, we are going to be using The Hub as a cross-curricular resource, with faculties tapping into the amazing knowledge of the entire careers team to support elements of learning. There will also be guest speakers, from a range of careers backgrounds, who will come and work with students so they can make informed decisions about their careers pathways.

Students, parents and staff alike, are invited to come and visit The Hub. Please see/contact Mr Tuffnell for more details.
