KS4 (Years 10 & 11)Course Details:iMedia is an IT based course which is delivered during KS4. There are 3 hours per week dedicated to the delivery and completion of components. The course aims to give an understanding of media through development of products such as websites, digital graphics and game concepts. The final exam is centred around the pre-production process of a media product.
There are 4 components in the media course. Each component makes up 25% of the final mark. 3 pieces of coursework each split into 4 learning objectives and a final exam. Students can expect to achieve Level 2 qualifications at Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.
Course Overview:
Designing a Game Concept – Researching consoles, game genres and developing own ideas for a digital game.
Creating a Multipage Website – Researching existing websites, methods of connection and planning and creation of a multipage website for a given brief.
Designing digital Graphics – Purpose of digital graphics, planning, design and review of graphics using drawing tools.
Pre-Production Skills – Understanding of processes and use of tools such as mood boards, scripts and visualisations in preparing a media product.
